Overview As part of the “Art in Motion” project, the Red Brick Center for the Arts and WE-cycle are accepting applications for five $1500 licensing opportunities for artists to display artwork on WE-cycle bikes and kiosks in Aspen during the summer of 2026.
Project description The Red Brick's Aspen Public Art program and WE-cycle are seeking images of artworks to be licensed for decals which will be printed and installed on the WE-cycle pedal bikes and kiosks in the Aspen system during the 2026 bikeshare season (May-Oct). Keeping WE-cycle templates in mind, artists are asked to submit artworks that they propose for installation on bikes and kiosks. Submissions must be artist’s original artwork and may be new or existing. Selected artworks will be cropped to templates at WE-cycle and Aspen Public Art's discretion.
Please refer to the Guidelines + Templates document on the Aspen Public Art webpage.
More information on the Art in Motion project is available on the WE-cycle webpage.
Eligibility Artists ages 16 years and up residing in Colorado's Roaring Fork Valley (Aspen to Glenwood Springs) are eligible to apply. Winners will have two days to accept licensing agreement and must be able to provide a high-resolution file of the selected artwork.
Submissions Applicants are required to submit an artist bio and/or resume, along with an artist statement, up to six high-quality images of artworks, and a list of artwork titles. Images of artworks may include painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, illustration, mixed media, collage, and 3D works of art. Submissions do not have to be rendered to the templates, but artists should consider the suitability for the template shapes and design criteria when submitting their artwork images.
Licensing Fee In exchange for usage rights (for the Art in Motion program in 2026 and for promotional and educational usage indefinitely), along with permission to crop artwork into templates at WE-cycle and Aspen Public Art's discretion, each selected artist will be paid a licensing fee of $1500. Artists will be credited for their artwork.
